About the July 2022 issue
The July 2022 issue of Career Ahead opens with a cover story on Keith Krach, a Nobel Prize nominee, engineer, businessman, diplomat and economist. In “Transformational Leadership Through the Power of Trust,” Krach traces his path from small-town Ohio, where his German father ran a machine shop and his mother was a schoolteacher, to his work on global economic security. During his time as U.S. Under Secretary of State, he developed the world’s first Trust Doctrine for Global Economic Security.
Krach describes becoming a welder in his father’s shop at 12 and watching the business depend on orders from suppliers to Detroit’s big three car companies. He writes that his father’s example taught him to connect with everyone without judgment while maintaining his integrity. He also recounts his first summer at General Motors, where at 19 he was a production foreman on a Cadillac chassis line and learned that building trust requires vulnerability and a willingness to take risks.
The issue also includes a Q&A with Shivangi Pathak, born in Hisar, Haryana. She is the youngest Indian mountaineer to climb Mount Everest from the Nepal side, reaching the summit at 16 after beginning training at 15. At 17, she climbed Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, in record time, and Russia’s highest mountain, Mount Elbrus, the same year. In 2019, President Ram Nath Kovind conferred on her the Bal Shakti Puraskar. In the interview, she discusses her training, the challenge of spending two or three months away from her family at 15, the cold in Leh, Ladakh and Kashmir, and the support of her mother.
Other contributions address Web3, Fashion and Design, Public Health, Management, Banking, Engineering and Media. The issue also offers information on career options and tips for start-ups and corporate careers. The editor’s note says the magazine is entering its third year and invites readers to share feedback and suggestions.
