October 2023 Issue: Editor’s Note

Unveiling the October issue of Career Ahead Magazine, featuring Grammy-recognized Dr. Charles Jenkins, former cricketer Murali Kartik, and a mosaic of expert insights across dynamic industries. Delve into the evolution of careers, the rise of entrepreneurship, and the latest industry trends shaping the professional world.

At some point in our early years, we have all been asked the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Many are convinced that they will be astronauts, palaeontologists, architects, engineers, doctors, or artists. Wouldn’t it be ideal if that was how it all turned out for all of us eventually? Though we might have a surplus of astronauts in that case! In reality, most of us change our minds on this topic several times over the years and by the time we reach adulthood – the aspiring doctors have become computer engineers and the would-be truck drivers have become doctors.

In fact, as I write this, I am aware that in the near future career fluidity will be the norm. Today, professionals change employers several times over the course of their careers, whereas till about three decades ago, it was typical to have one employer all through your career. As things are changing, entrepreneurship has become a preferred choice for many; and among professionals, very few stick with one employer or one field of work. There are many options available to the youth today and they are not afraid to take risks and follow their instincts. To quote Mark Zuckerberg, “In a world that’s changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks.”
