BSC Kuwait Explores Rebrand After BSC Education Liquidation

The Kuwait centre was established as a locally registered legal entity and had an agreement to use BSC Education’s brand and course materials.

BSC Kuwait is exploring a rebrand after BSC Education entered liquidation.

BSC Kuwait began as a separate local centre

In 2024, Abdullah Alaifan, owner of Easy Apply, and Valentina Ballan, now the manager of BSC Kuwait, decided to establish a language centre in Kuwait. Before that, Ballan had worked as business development manager at Easy Apply Education Consultancy in Kuwait. The centre opened to students in April 2025. Its creation therefore followed a decision by Easy Apply’s owner and a former member of the consultancy’s business development team to start a language centre.¹

BSC Kuwait entered into an agreement with BSC Education to use its brand and course materials. It was established as an independent legal entity registered in Kuwait and is not part of the BSC Education group of companies. The agreement gave the centre permission to use the provider’s brand and teaching materials; it did not make the Kuwait centre part of that group. Its legal registration and its agreement with BSC Education were distinct parts of how it was set up.¹

Communication and referral payments became points of friction

Communication between BSC Kuwait and BSC Education became increasingly difficult after changes in BSC Education’s leadership. Easy Apply also faced ongoing issues with unpaid commissions tied to student referrals to BSC Education. The two problems concerned different relationships: one was difficulty communicating with the education provider, while the other involved commissions owed to Easy Apply for students it referred. Both formed part of the wider strain in the connection between the organisations.¹

Easy Apply decided to pause further student referrals to BSC Education’s UK schools. BSC Education never directly told BSC Kuwait that it was facing serious financial difficulties or that closure was possible. Valentina Ballan, manager of BSC Kuwait, said she was not surprised when she heard that BSC Education was entering liquidation. The referral decision and the lack of direct notice preceded her response to the news of liquidation.¹

The centre remains open as it considers a new identity

BSC Kuwait says it is an independent Kuwaiti company and is not affected by the liquidation process involving BSC Education. It continues to operate as normal. The position it describes separates the Kuwait centre’s operation from the liquidation process affecting BSC Education. Its ongoing operation is the immediate status of the centre, while its plans for a different identity remain under consideration.¹

BSC Kuwait is exploring a rebrand through a new partnership with another education provider or by developing its own independent brand. Those routes offer two different ways to establish its identity: work with another provider or create a brand independently. The centre has described both options as under consideration. The choice concerns how it presents itself after its agreement to use BSC Education’s brand and course materials.¹

Scholarship restrictions followed the centre’s opening

Shortly after BSC Kuwait opened, the Ministry of Higher Education announced changes to its overseas scholarship program. Those changes included restrictions on funding English language studies abroad. The stated restriction concerns scholarship funding for English-language study outside the country; it is one element of the wider program changes. The announcement came after the centre began receiving students, placing the policy change in the early period of BSC Kuwait’s operation.¹

Check the Brand Behind the Name

Before you pick a language school or any education provider, ask who owns the brand and who runs the centre. BSC Kuwait used BSC Education's name and materials but stayed a separate legal entity, so the provider's collapse did not close it. That separation kept the centre open, but it also meant the brand did not guarantee the parent's stability. When you compare courses, look past the familiar name and verify the local operator's own registration and finances.¹

Watch for warning signs in your own partnerships. Easy Apply paused referrals after unpaid commissions and difficult communication, and BSC Education never directly warned of trouble. If a provider owes you money or stops responding after leadership changes, treat that as a signal to reduce your dependence. Also note that scholarship rules can shift quickly, as Kuwait restricted funding for English study abroad soon after the centre opened, so plan your budget without relying on government support that may vanish.¹
