AI-related recruitment in India’s information-technology industry grew 16% year-on-year in June 2026, whereas total IT job listings dropped 3%, according to Naukri.com’s monthly JobSpeak report.

In June 2026, Indian IT firms posted a higher volume of AI and machine-learning positions compared with the same month in 2025, while the aggregate number of technology-related job advertisements declined. The trend was identified in a data set that spans more than 150,000 employers across 14 industry sectors, with the findings released by online recruitment platform Naukri.com on July 5, 2026.

The report was compiled by Naukri’s JobSpeak research team, which tracks job-posting activity on the portal. It shows a 16% year-on-year increase in AI-focused roles within the IT segment and a simultaneous 3% drop in overall IT vacancies. The data also indicate that AI and machine-learning openings grew 25% across non-IT industries, led by insurance and consumer-goods companies.

AI hiring outpaces overall tech recruitment

The JobSpeak analysis recorded 9,800 AI-related postings in June 2026, up from 8,460 in June 2025, representing a 16% increase. In contrast, total IT job listings fell from 112,000 to 108,640, a 3% reduction. The surge was most pronounced among large-scale IT service providers headquartered in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune, which collectively accounted for roughly 60% of the AI-related postings.

Across the broader economy, AI and machine-learning roles expanded by 25% year-on-year, with the insurance sector posting a 38% increase and consumer-goods firms a 31% rise. The growth was attributed to heightened investment in automation, data analytics, and predictive modeling projects announced by major corporate players during the first half of 2026.

For the June 2026 snapshot, the research team filtered postings by keyword categories such as “Artificial Intelligence,” “Machine Learning,” “Deep Learning,” and “Data Science” to isolate AI-related roles.

Naukri’s JobSpeak report aggregates real-time job listings from its platform, which hosts more than 30 million registered job seekers and over 200,000 employer accounts. For the June 2026 snapshot, the research team filtered postings by keyword categories such as “Artificial Intelligence,” “Machine Learning,” “Deep Learning,” and “Data Science” to isolate AI-related roles.

The dataset covered 14 industry verticals, including information technology, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, insurance, and consumer goods. Employers were classified as “IT firms” when their primary NAICS code fell under the 5112–5113 range, ensuring consistency in sectoral comparisons. Year-on-year growth rates were calculated by comparing June 2026 figures with those from June 2025, adjusting for seasonal hiring patterns observed in previous quarters.
