The Directorate of Education (DoE), Government of Delhi, has issued a circular directing government and government-aided schools to inform eligible Class 12 Science students about the Dakshana Foundation’s free one-year residential coaching programme for JEE and NEET aspirants. The initiative is being offered by the Dakshana Foundation, while the DoE is facilitating awareness among eligible students through its schools.

Admissions to the programme will be conducted through the Joint Dakshana Selection Test (JDST) 2027, a national scholarship examination conducted by the Dakshana Foundation. Selected students will receive completely free residential coaching, including academic instruction, accommodation, meals, study material, mentoring, and regular mock tests.

About the Programme

Dakshana Foundation is a non-profit organisation that has been providing scholarships to meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET.

Under this programme, selected students will study in a structured residential environment with experienced faculty, scheduled classroom sessions, doubt-solving, regular assessments, and exam-oriented preparation.

Selection Process

Students will be selected through the Joint Dakshana Selection Test (JDST) 2027. Eligible students must register and appear for the entrance examination, after which shortlisted candidates will be offered scholarships based on the prescribed selection process.

Current Intake

According to the Dakshana Foundation, the current scholarship programme will accommodate 600 students.

The Foundation has also stated that it plans to gradually increase capacity to approximately 1,100 students over the next two years as additional hostel facilities become operational.

Benefits for Selected Students

Successful candidates will receive:

  • One-year free residential coaching for JEE or NEET
  • Accommodation and meals
  • Study material
  • Regular mock tests and performance assessments
  • Academic mentoring and guidance
  • A structured learning environment focused on competitive examination success

Why This Matters

Private coaching for engineering and medical entrance examinations often costs several lakh rupees, making quality preparation inaccessible for many deserving students. The Dakshana Foundation scholarship helps bridge this gap by providing comprehensive coaching at no cost to selected candidates.

The Directorate of Education’s decision to circulate information about the programme is expected to improve awareness among eligible students studying in Delhi’s government and government-aided schools.
